Having a cat brings joy and companionship, but their litter boxes tend to get in the way. Before long, litter tends to fall on the ground. Instead of constantly sweeping up the litter box, there is a more convenient solution. With a bit of time and effort, a cabinet can be repurposed into a kitty palace.
To make this project, you just have to remove the shelves or drawers in a cabinet. A hole has to be cut in the side for the cat to enter. Meanwhile, nails can be installed for hanging litter scoops and other utensils. Before long, a basic cabinet can be transformed into a hidden litter box space.
This creative idea was made by Imgur user Erdamann. She thought of the brilliant idea and quickly set to work to gather the hardware supplies. Within about a day of work, she made a standard cabinet into the perfect space for her cat to privately use the bathroom.
She started with a basic cabinet. This cabinet was found at a thrift store and remade.
For the cabinet to be the right size, it had to be cut. The top and side portion were completely removed. The bottom trim was recut for a different look. Meanwhile, she took the doors apart and reshaped them. Now, they have a square-shaped trim.
Since the cabinet set did not match, it had to be repainted. For this project, she chose a basic white color to blend in with her home.
After getting excited about the project, she almost forgot the door. A hole was cut into the side for the cat to enter and exit.
Now that the door was cut, it was time to paint again. A second coat of paint really made the doors look like new.
